Large tract of private land surrounded on three sided by the Shavers Fork river. Upslope to the northwest is mostly old mixed oak/heath. The Shavers Fork is located 12m south of plot center. See other plots from this day for more context.;Even aged stand of sycamore. Most of the trees are the same diameter and height. There is a lot of woody debris washed up in piles on the upriver sides of the larger trees. The forest floor is a plie of river rock and sand. There is a lush tall herb layer mostly consisting of wingstem and Solidago spp.
Representativeness
Small patch of a successional sycamore/wing-stem on frequently flooded cobble. A common type under-sampled in this ecoregion.
