Landscape Narrative ? Agricultural Valley with little natural vegetation. Small patch in this forest block has more diverse forest with swamp white oak. Plots on adjacent land include shagbak/ sedge floodplain and swamp white swamp. Plots RAND.35 and 36.;Broad river floodplain with one of the few remaining forest tracts left in valley bottom. Poorly drained soils, but little standing water at sample date. Forest is a near mono-culture of red maple, with some gum and cherry in subcanopy. Shrub layer is sparse. Herb layer has dense cover of skunk cabbage. There is a canopy gap and large downfall logs in plot.
