Occurence is a top-rounded band of virginia pine dominated shale barren with more openings and ground vegetation than the abrupt band of sparse shale barren below which then levels our to a major highway and a sparsely populated flatland below. Upslope is a rounded hill top which grades slowly into upland forest vegetation.;Patchy-large openings with low shrubs-sedges and grasses under tree canopy. Downed trees with accumulated patches of litter.
Representativeness
The species present are representative of community area. The plot was situated containing half of a large opening and the rest was a wooded area which was also prevalent.
