Occurence is a primarily herbaceous community along a narrow rock outcrop with scattered small trees. Downslope, the community blends into a more dense small tree area with a thick herbaceous layer descending downward into a valley of agricultural fiels. Upslope, the community grades into an oak-pine forest. The community is bounded on either side by a primarily oak-hickory forest.;Ground vegetation occurs in soil packets along rock outcrop becoming more dense in level areas. Litter accumulation is behind vegetation and in rock breaks down the cliff.
