The occurance in an upland scrub oak-pine woodland with a sparse undestory. Downslope the community is interrupted by a road but continues past this for several meters. Upslope there are many grassy openings leading to the ridge where more deciduous trees are found. The community is bounded (and interrupted at one point) by deciduous upland forested drainages with an understory of Kalmia and Vaccinium. Allium cernuum was found outside the plota and Eriogonum allenii, Calystegia spithamaea, and Oenothera argillicola all also occur outside the plot-but these populations concentrated on the road cut and below the road.;Vegetation occurs in patches across plot with Carex and Danthonia dominating in canopy gaps, but also scattered throughout. In a large canopy gap, the Rhus aromatica froms a dense stand. There is a lot of litter amuulation behind vegetation clumps. The Senecia and Trifolium occur in the moist bare places across the barren.
Representativeness
Plot is representative of this oak-pine community.
Roadcut seems to enhance the Senecio antennaiifolius Erigonum allenii, Oenthera argillicola and Calystegia spithamaea ssp. purshiana populations.Barren below road (on private property) appears to be an old dumping site with lots of cars, litter, general junk.
