Occurrence is situated midlope on a very steep WSW-facing shale slope undercut by a large stream. It is a roughly 40 feet by 50 feet clearing bounded to the north by White pine-oak-hickory forest. Aspect changes to the south, and there the community is dominated by white pine. Upslope to the NE the land comes to a point upon a larger ridge.;Vegetation is sparse and very homogeneous.
Representativeness
The plot is representative of this gap-type, steep shale barren community. Clematis albicoma was present in this small community but was located nowhere else on the site.
