Occurrence is an upland oak-hickory-pine sparse woodland on a steep slope. Downslope the community ends abruptly at the small gravel road and North River. The community is bounded on either side by a dry oak-hickory forest. Upslope the community continues up to the ridge where there are even more dead trees which filter down into the community.;Vegetation occurs in patches across community depending mainly on topography. On the cliff faces Oenothera, Solidago, and ferns dominate in the canopy gaps while in the more level areas, Carex and Danthonia dominate. There is a lot of litter accumulation behind vegetation throughout community.
Representativeness
