The slope overlooks the South Branch of the Potomac River and a wide river valley with agricultural fields. The slope is on the lower part of a less-steep small ridge which extends toward the river and is covered by dry virginia pine woodland.;Community is on a short, steep slope with rock outcrops and has been disturbed upslope, so it is patchy across its range.
Representativeness
The plot is reasonably representative. Not included were clumps of Rosa carolina and Cheilanthes lanosa, few Arabis laevigata, and Robinia pseudo-acacia and Helianthus laevigatus upslope under the power lines.
