Landscape Narrative ? Occurence is on a SW-facing slope of a fairly low ridge undercut by Little Stony Run and overlooking agricultural fields and a few residences in the floodplain of the South Fork South Branch of the Potomac River. There are two small reservoirs to the SE.;The pine cover is even over this large barren. There are areas of small rock outcrops with ferns and Sedum sp. The ground cover (mostly Carex-Danthonia) is somewhat sparse and patchy. There are a few high shrubs but not much subcanopy.
Representativeness ? Plot is quite representative even though the aspect is a little more to the south than most of the barren. The plot was chosen because of the presence of 2 shale endemics: Senecio antennariifolius, which is quite widespread on the barren and Clematis al
