This is Community B, a Pinus virginiana dominated woodland. To the east of Community B is an outcrop area sloping down to the road with vertical ridges of shale. Further east the community grades into less steep juniper-oak woodland with much grass cover.;This part of the barren is broken by an outcrop ridge, but it continues SW to grade into oak forest with Carex pensylvanica and Panicum at the edge.
