Occurrence is upland pine woodland with a dense, low subcanopy. It is above Community A (a more typical sparse shale barren community) and continues upward to cover most of the summit of the hill. On either side the community grades gradually to more dense forest with more hardwoods as the aspect changes.;Pinus canopy and hardwood subcanopy are very homogenous with the subcanopy quite thick. Ground vegetation is also extensive and very mixed. Most gaps in the canopy are completely filled with subcanopy species. There were several mushrooms growing in the community.
