Occurrence is an upland virginia pine forest with a fairly dense understory and sparse ground vegetation layer. Upslope the community changes abruptly at the ridge top where it descends into a pine-oak forest. Downslope the community ends abruptly at a road and narrow valley of agricultural fields and homes. The community is bounded to the west by Community 1 and to the east by a more deciduous forest as the aspect changes.;Vegetation distributed homogenously throughout plot with ground vegetation concentrated in canopy gaps. Many litter pockets collected behind woody vegetation and roots.
Representativeness
Plot is representative of this scrub pine forest. Concentration of Vaccinium fluctuates throughout community, but our plot represents the average. Species encountered elsewhere in community include: Pseudotanidia montana. There is Oenothera argillicol
