Wildlife Management Area with over-abundant deer. Limestone lithology on both sides of drainage creates excellent trout stream. Dead hemlock is extensive upslope on cool aspect.;Steep bedrock ledges at geology and slope break. Fossiliferous limestone fizzes with acid test. Forest of medium tall red oaks with some black maple, chinquapin, and chestnut oak. Tall shrub layer with hop hornbeam prominent. Sandstone without fizz is also mixed in soil.
Representativeness
Small patch calcareous oak forest. Plot placed on outcrop of limestone. Similar slope position to THOR.3, but here is cooler aspect, taller canopy, no red cedar.
