Wildlife Management Area with open areas and forests.;North aspect on terraced hill slope in a dissected plateau landscape. Community is a deciduous forest dominated by beech, red oak and red maple. There are old sawn stumps in plot along with abundant deadfall from density dependant mortality of regeneration after logging. Understory is dominated by mesophytic, acid tolerant ferns.
Representativeness
Large patch of matrix forest on mesic middle / lower slopes. Placed plot to avoid tuliptree dominance, which is patchy in same postion and aspect.
