This area, at least surrounding the plot, is influenced by what I think to be a recent fire on the west slope and human disturbance of some kind upslope. The west is extremely young with impenetrable trees and some older Pinus pungens. Upslope has a lot of exotics and disturbance loving plants.;This is an oak-hickory stand with some Prunus serotina and Carya which seems different. This a thin spur ridge which I'm unsure about in respect of natural composition. Ther is an extremely complex disturbance regime here. A lot of tree regeneration. There is a variable subcanopy here; some is almost canopy level and some only 5 m tall.
Representativeness
This stand is difficult to represent and I'm reluctant to sample because its homogeneity is greatly reduced by a complicated disturbance regime. The plot is placed to capture oak-hickory which is what I presume to be here naturally. There is more Prunus s
