On the western slope of Short Mt. with a Quercus prinus forest on the ridge. I think mixed oaks dominate downslope.;This stand is an upper slope with a cool aspect dominated by Quercus rubra and Quercus prinus with Acer rubrum in the subcanopy. This stand has a well drained, rocky soil, but the northern aspect makes habitat for some mesic species. Very sparse herb cover.
Representativeness
Dry upper slope with a mesic north aspect. Plot chosen to include drier and more mesic species. Some birch in the area, but not in plot.
