This area has no doubt been altered by beavers and man. The main road is ~100 m north with many clearcuts nearby, but is not invaded by exotics. South is an herbaceous community.;This stand is at the upper end of the wetland where some trees are still standing, but doing poorly, even Acer rubrum. Now the area is dominated by and extemely dense shrub thicket where one can see no more than 5-10 m. The shrub cover is various with Viburnum, Ilex, and Alnus. Carex folliculata and C. stricta is in the herb layer. Very hummocky, creating more diversity than other thickets seen so far.
Representativeness
Formally wooded wetland which has succeeded to a shrub thicket.
