This stand is a linear strip which runs indefinitely north and south. The more exposed west side and and ridge peak are composed of chestnut oak-pine/heath with a lot of Kalmia and Gaylussacia. The east slope probably is oak hickory. There is a foot trail nearby.;This stand is the slightly less exposed east side of a ridge where mixed oaks dominate. The herbs are almost nil and Vaccinium pallidum and V. stamineum are dominant understory shrubs. The shrubs are not sparse, but offer only moderate cover throughout the stand. There are some hickory in the subcanopy, but are very infrequent.
