This is a very extensive example contiunuing north and south for as far as I can see (~200m). To the west is a mixed oak rocky slope.;Forested wetland similar to those lfound next to the wetland. Ferns (Osmunda and Thelypteris) dominate the herb layer with some sedges. The hummocks created by the trees favor more mesic to dry species. The lower, more inundated places favor Carex. Red oak is a minor componant.
Representativeness
Intermitteantly flooded swamp of Quercus alba and Nyssa sylvatica for comparison of wetland forests in the basin. Some places have huge clumps of Osmunda, others Thelyteris. This plot does not represent Osmunda as well as other places.
