Near the west edge of the WMA on a midslope. Mostly surrounded by oak/ heath with some more mesic hardwoods in the draws.;This is a forest mostly dominated by Quecus rubra with some Q. prinus and a dense understory of Acer pensylvanicum. This may be a variation on oak/Hammamelis forests which also have a NW aspect and may not ssupport a dense heath cover. The herb layer and low shrub layer is non-existant due to the overwhelming shrub cover.
Representativeness
Plot sampled for comparison of other cooler apsect oak/mesic shrub forests.
