Sleepy Creek Mountain has very large populations of invasive species spreading from the gravel road that runs along the ridgetop. Oak - Hickory forests cover the portion of the ridgetop that we walked today.;Large patch of bouldery ridgetop Oak - Hickory forest with easterly aspect along sandstone outcrop area. Most of the East - facing (more mesic) ridgetop forest on Sleepy Creek Mtn. is overrun with invasive Japanese stiltgrass, Garlic mustard, and Tree - of - Heaven. This patch is relatively weed - free, perhaps because the boulders restrict access slightly.
Representativeness
Plot was placed to sample Eastern aspect of ridgetop Oak - Hickory forest, within a high wind resource polygon.
