To the east ca. 150m is a steep east facing gorge slope. To the west is a wildlife opening. We have a plot on the west side of the ridge north of here (SNHI.1) in a xeric-oak forest. Also see any other data sheets completed today.;Oak dominated forest (Quercus rubra, velutina, alba) on a gentle sloping plateau. The forest floor is littered with sawn stumps and discarded tree tops from a past timber operation. Few forbs with little coverage in plot. The forest here looks in better shape than on Briery. Perhaps this sight is older. There is a logging road northwest ca. 50m from plot. If you follow the road over the hill east there is an overlook which looks across the Cheat to Coopers Rock State Forest.
Representativeness
Large patch community of a mixed hardwood forest dominated by oak. I believe this to be equivalent to the mixed - montane hardwood forest mapped at the Briery Mtn. WMA. This community type is most likely a major component of the plateau forest here at Sna
