The limestone was located 1/2 way up the gorge slope from the bottom. Open and dry forest with Quercus muehlenbergii Violas canadensis and Sedum ternatum in addition to species above. The top third of the hill was sub-xeric oak. The middle and lower 2/3 is a tulip poplar - Sugar maple somewhat mesic forest. Never became very lush. We never saw a discernable sign of limestone. The slope is similar to Pringle Gorge but not as mesic or rich.;Steep gorge slope. Heavily and repeatedly logged. Criss-crossed with skid trails. The slope is very rocky. Were expecting to find a rich mesic forest on limestone 2/3 of the way down the slope and did. The limestone band looked somewhat dry. Lots of bluecohash already passed.
