See plots (SNHI.1, 2, 4) and any others completed today. Obs. Point is located on the rim of the Cheat Gorge. Across the river/lake is Copper Rock State Forest. Below plot is a rocky Rhododendron patch.;Dry oak heath forest on rim of gorge dominated by Quercus prinus / Rhododendron maximum. There are several large fire scared snags (50cm+ dbh) and stumps. Herbaceous layer lacking. Some sawn stumps located within the community. Old skidder trail located upslope ca. 50m. Upslope from here is the same community. However, Kalmia dominates the heath layer. The Rhododendron may be here because of the cool gorge slope below.
