Lower slopes are mostly younger deciduous forest. State Park use is concentrated in developed areas - there is little sign of trail or off trail pedestrian travel - faint trail follows ridge.;Top of knob with spider ridges diverging. Rolling ground along ridge supports a forest of large oaks and hickories. Understory appears to be heavily deer chewed, with striped maple only making it into the short shrub layer. There are old fire scars on some large trees. Low herb diversity, very little regeneration except abundant red maple seedlings.
Representativeness
Older stand of deciduous forest on top of knob. Hemlock and rhododendron are scattered outside plot, but forest is mostly deciduous.
