Grazed forest 50 m to the west including red maple, black cherry, and hawthorn. Alder swamp also abuts this community. The community continues on the east side of the North Branch, Spruce -Fir forest also abuts the community.;Alluvial Spiraea shrubland with graminoid openings, probably caused by cattle. Mid-successional. North Branch probably floods this area a few times a year.

Typical of Spiraea stands along the North Branch of the Blackwater River. Impacted by cows. Openings in Spiraea are probably caused by cattle grazing and trampling.
