Towards river is a narrow zone of sycamore on a steep bank which is regularly flooded. Behind plot slopes down into trib stream caught behind the river levee.;Broad alluvial terrace above a steep bank. Rarely, but probably occasionally flooded. Community is a deciduous forest dominated by large, leaning red oaks with hickory abundant in smaller size classes. There is deer on property, but no sign of recent cattle use. Canopy opening caused by snag out of plot favors hatscented fern. Otherwise, herb cover is moderate but diverse.
Representativeness
Medium size patch of oak-hickory forest on an alluvial terrace. Plot placed to avoid patches of tulip-tree which are interspersed.
