See plots USFS.2,3. Transect bearing 36 degrees. Transect starts out on a steep slope with an aspect of 160 degrees. The lower slope has several small limestone cliff bands. The community is a Quercus rubra - Acer saccharrum -Tilia americana / Impatiens pallida - Laportea canadensis forest. The mid slope is only moderately steep with large sandstone boulders. The forest becomes a slightly less diverse Quercus rubra - Acer sacchrum forest. Several old logging roads criss cross the hillside.;Chestnut oak-red oak-red maple. Three dominant Red Oaks too big to core with our borer. Alot of understory trees. The forest floor has many forbs eventhough very little sun reaches it. Many large boulders in plot.
