See plots USFS.30,31,32. Transect bearing is 130 degrees. Chains 1 to 35 Betula alleghaniensis - Acer rubrum with some Fagus grandifolia and Picea rubens in the understory. Then side slope - Fagus grandifolia and Blue Cohosh increases, more diverse. Into a partial logging unit chains 35-70. Beyond chain 70 Tsuga canadesis understory, lost Fagus, more Betula alleghaniensis, lots of Prunus serotina, ferns, picked up Lycopodium obscurum.;Red spruce/Partridgeberry (MIRE);Windthrow aspect 104 degrees. Old second growth red spruce well represented in the understory. Soil may have 2 distinct B horizons.
