See plots USFS. 329,330. Transect bearing 88 degrees. The first 6 chains passed through an open bog community. From chains 7-18 the transect passes through a marshy alder glade. At chain 21 changed bearing to 150 degrees avoid a beaver pond. From chains 22-30 the transect passes through a Marshy meadow dominated by grasses. From chains 31-74 the transect ascended up a ridge through a northern hardwood forest. Chains 75-82 the transect ended on a flat ridgetop dominated by northern hardwoods.;Plot is located on a broad ridgetop . The dominant overstory is Prunus serotina and Acer saccharum. The dominant shrubs is Rubus sp. The forbs consisted mainly of Viola blanda and Oxalis montana.
Representativeness
The USFS plots were placed at random points along a compass bearing. Transects were broken into 20 meter chains. This transect was 82 meters long and the plot was located at chain 76 in a northern hardwood forest.
