Landscape Narrative ? See plots USFS.40,41. Transect bearing 180 degrees. Chains 1-20 up a steep grade with Fagus grandifolia, Acer saccharum, and Prunus serotina in the overstory and Dryopteris intermedia and Oxalis montana as the main ground cover. From chains 21-30 We reached a broad ridgetop with Prunus serotina and Fagus grandifolia in the overstory. From chains 31-48 the transect passed through a clearcut. We then crossed a small drainage after the clearcut and then ran into the stream again from chains 60-69. We moved pot USFS.40 to chain 59 to avoid the clearcut. The rest of the transect drops slowly downhill through a forest of Prunus seotina, Betula lenta, and Fagus grandifolia;Overstory was Prunus serotina and Fagus grandifolia. Acer saccharrum and Magnolia fraseri were well represented in the understory. There is dense Smilax rotundifolia cover in plot. Sparse forb and fern layers.
Representativeness ? Provisional Community Name is roughly approximated from the 3 species with highest percent cover. Plot data from USFS spreadsheets and shapefiles. Original files on disk and in Plotdata/USFS directory. Numerous taxonomic assumptions made, since taxonomi
