Part of an 82 acre tract which has been protected from logging for water supply. Creek bottom to south becomes dominated by Tsuga. Some areas have older forest with less coarse woody debris reflecting absence of natural catostrophic disturbance or depletion by fire. Forest as a whole is very patchy with complex structure and abundant legacy features. To the west is an old reservoir bed which was previously used for Morgantown water supply.;Stand of medium sized trees in patchy virgin forest. Abundant down, rotting logs and standing stumps (not sawn) from past disturbance (possibly dead fall from chestnut blight or ice storm). Low herbaceous diversity and cover, mostly tree seedlings.
Representativeness
