Eryngium stand lies in basin between Quercus douglasii savanna upland and deeper lake basin filled with Scirpus acutus. This stand repeats in patches mixed with other small stands of Juncus and Mentha pulegium. Vernal pool species present but most ephemeral species are long gone and difficult to identify. Eryngium lines most of the outer edges of this basin, just before the upland rise.
