This is a stand of black oak and ponderosa pine with a dense understory of Heteromeles arbutifolia and poison-oak. Pines are less than 100 years old with multiple cohorts present. The large oaks mostly have single to few trunks. The stand is very mesic with large moss cover. The manzanitas are large, old, and senescent. There is evidence of mining disturbance (pits, flumes) in the stand.
