Location Narrative |
Horning Ranch, Hamlin Canyon in Butte County: Blue oak woodland on the N-facing slopes of this box canyon. The slope is interrupted by a series of broken cliffs. This is where most of the shrub cover is. The herb layer is relatively dense with mostly non-native grasses, but is interrupted by patches of thinner soil where native species such as Vulpia microstachys and Trifolium are most abundant.
