Author Location ? Roadside survey off HWY 49 at Bear River
Location Narrative ? This tamarisk stand lines drainage ditch along Hwy 49 at south side of Bear River, on property of abandoned trailer park. The tamarisk shrubs are dense and spreading from the base. Entire stand is a very linear, approximately 75 meters long and only one shrub thick (they were obviously planted). For this reason stand may not be a "real" stand, but I thought any tamarisk should be documented if near river. However this stand does not appear to be spreading. One Quercus lobata and one catalpa rise out of the southern end of stand and one telephone pole interrupts the line of tamarisk. The small breaks are filled with Rubus. Stand ends just before the Hwy 49 Bear River bridge.
