Open Arctostaphylos viscida stand on a very gravely/cobbly metamorphic ridge. There is virtually no herbaceous layer and very few other shrub species in the stand. There are signs of not-so-recent fire. There are some interesting plants here including Mimulus viscidus, Hypericum concinnum and Dendromecon. The stand grades into a chamise stand downslope.
