This stand consists of young Pinus ponderosa with an understory of mature, very large, Arctostaphylos viscida and a few emergent, young Pinus (radiata? -it has been very difficult to try to identify this Pinus species, it is likely some kind of hybrid that was planted on purpose, and is probably naturalizing) . The herbaceous cover is very low, but there is an abundance of oak seedlings. The litter cover is high. There are some large pieces of quartz scattered around the stand, and there is evidence of wood cutting. The stand is fairly open and spans the top and SE facing slope of the ridgeline.
