BLM parcels in Butte County, north and east of Paradise: A ridgetop stand of pure black oak with a few scattered emergent Douglas firs and incense cedars. There are many saplings of each of these species in the understory. There are a few scattered bays in the low understory tree layer. The shrub layer is primarily low poison oak and the herb layer is sparse with a thick litter layer covering the ground. The stand as it is drawn on the map extends outside of the BLM parcel, therefore, only a small portion of the stand was surveyed.
