Location Narrative ? Bear Valley Road, Mariposa County: Open Ceanothus cuneatus stand with a grass and forb understory and scattered small blue oaks in the overstory. The soil is thin and derived from slate. Despite the high cover of weedy Bromus spp. there are many native forbs in the stand. This site was grazed until 1998 and there has been no grazing by cattle since then. The Ceanothus is very old.
