Tall mounds of dredge tailings 15-20 ft. high form topography of ponderosa pine stand with Quercus wislizeni and madrone. Ponderosas are mostly T4 and T5 with many regenerating. Small drainages snake through stand and forest is also split by a pedestrian trail leading to the river. Thick pine and oak duff on forest floor, however there are several grassy openings (without duff). Shrub cover is intermittent with Cytisus regenerating in openings. Aspect and exposure are highly variable due to the mounding but aspect ranges between 5-20 degrees and the exposure generally tilts towards the river.
