Location Narrative
Horning Ranch, Hamlin Canyon in Butte County: A small, narrow riparian stand along the intermittent creek in this box canyon. Vegetation consists of open, scattered Quercus douglasii in the tree layer, patchy junipers as tall shrubs in the sub-canopy layer, and scattered low poison oak and wedgeleaf ceanothus in the shrub layer. The dense, mostly non-native herb layer has basically the same species as in the adjacent savanna.
