Horning Ranch, Hamlin Canyon in Butte County: A long narrow band of shrubby Quercus wislizeni - Aesculus californica and poison oak (interior live oak and buckeye form a tall shrub layer over poison oak, Heteromeles arbutifolia, and other shrubs). The stand is situated on the uppermost, steep slopes and cliff faces of the plateau to the N of Nugen Canyon. There are a number of standing snags from the fire of 1993.
