Horning Ranch, Hamlin Canyon in Butte County: A stand of blue oak woodland with a low-tree understory of buckeye along a presently dry, intermittent stream. The shrub understory is comprised of scattered poison oak, wedgeleaf ceanothus, and Heteromeles arbutifolia. The herb layer is mostly dominated by non-native annual grasses, but with a fair amount of yampah on the stream terraces.
