Horning Ranch, Hamlin Canyon in Butte County: An open blue oak savanna on the W-facing slopes of this canyon, comprised mostly of short stature blue oak. There are scattered large boulders from the nearby cliffs to the left and the blue oak cover is concentrated in the ravines and gullies bisecting the slope. The herb layer is dominated by annual grasses.
