Horning Ranch, Hamlin Canyon in Butte County: A narrow strip of riparian vegetation along an intermittent stream. The tree canopy is dominated by Quercus wislizeni, with some intermixed Quercus douglasii and a few scattered, emergent Pinus sabiniana. Vitis is growing up into the tree canopy, buckeye forms an understory tree layer, and poison oak is patchy in the shrub understory with scattered Heteromeles arbutifolia and Rhamnus tomentella.
