BLM parcels in Butte County, north and east of Paradise: This is a steep, dense stand consisting of several layers of vegetation, the tallest being the conifers, with mature Quercus chrysolepis and Quercus kelloggii under that, followed by a small tree layer of Heteromeles arbutifolia and Umbellularia californica. The herbaceous layer is very minimal, consisting mostly of ferns. There is a deep litter layer, and the steepness of the slope is variable.
