Location Narrative ? Stand is defined by Carex under valley oak and interior live oak along the north bank of the South Fork of the American River. Valley oak continues down river but Carex does not. Understory changes to Bromus diandrus after stand ends. This NE-facing stand is on the first terrace above a stand of Salix exigua. Carex is dense with a few herbs interspersed. Cytisus is starting to invade.
