Horning Ranch, Hamlin Canyon in Butte County: Large, open stand of mature, single-stemmed Quercus douglasii with dense grass understory on gentle, NW-facing slope which lead down to the creek in Hamlin Canyon. This stand contains the site of relevé HAMLIN10, which gives a detailed description of the understory. There are several small seasonal drainages that wind through the stand down into the creek. Lots of Quercus douglasii seedlings.
