Location Narrative |
South Lake McClure, Mariposa County: This is an impenetrable chaparral stand of old chamise and Arctostaphylos viscida (hasn't burned in a long time & the litter layer is thick). The herb layer is very sparse and essentially only around the edges. The co-dominance of the two shrub species shifts across what could be a very large stand. Stand boundaries with adjacent pure chamise are indistinct.
